Our Awesome Team! We are hiring!

Dr. Sonja Biggs is the President and Owner of Sonja Biggs Educational Services, Inc. She has been a elementary classroom teacher, as well as a university professor working with students from birth to adulthood. Sonja is a TVI and O&M instructor dually certified in both California and Washington State. Sonja has her Ph.D. in Advanced K-12 Education from Capella University and brings experience as a mother of a blind child from birth to transition into adulthood.

Atom Biggs, BSN RN, is the Vice President of Sonja Biggs Educational Services, Inc. He brings a wealth of expertise from a medical point of view, as well as that of a parent of a blind child. Atom enjoys creating wonderful recreational and team building activities for us to experience together. He is Sonja’s husband of 32 years and we are so fortunate to have him on our team!

Brandon Keith Biggs is the CFO of Sonja Biggs Educational Services, Inc. He graduated in June 2016 with a BA in Music and minor in Marketing. Brandon also has an extensive background in business, marketing, and helping start-ups become successful businesses. Brandon is instrumental in bringing growth and vision to our company. He is currently working on a Masters Degree in Universal Accessibility through Ocad University in Toronto, Canada. Brandon is also an expert in Assistive Technology and guides our team in knowing what technology our blind & visually impaired students need. We are fortunate to have him help build our team!

Lindy Davis came to us from Walla Walla, WA. She is our new Human Resources Director. Lindy has a B.A. in Psychology from Walla Walla University. Lindy is working on her certification in Human Resources thorugh UC Berkeley. She also leads our production of large print and tactile materials using InDesign and Photoshop. Lindy organizes our professional development and orientations. Lindy brings with her a positive attitude and brings joy to our work place. We are so happy that Lindy is a part of our team!

Nick Leon, MA, COMS, is our Program Manager and comes to us from Indianapolis where he previously worked at the Bosma Center as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist. Nick is a presenter for AER International and has produced a Webinar with AER on using 3-D pens in making tactile maps for Orientation & Mobility. We are so excited that Nick has joined our team of Orientation & Mobility Specialists. He will also be starting the TVI Program at SFSU in January when he will begin work as a TVI Intern.

Britt Reel, MA, COMS, comes to us from Martinez, CA where he previously worked as an orientation & mobility specialist with the Veteran’s Administration. He is a wonderful team member and his colleagues really enjoy working with Britt. He is really making a positive difference in the lives of his students. Britt has applied to begin the TVI Program at SFSU for a dual certification. We are excited to have Britt as a part of our SBESInc. team.

Monique Quientero is coming to us with an extensive background as a VI paraeducator and braillist. She will be working one-on-one with a blind student, as well as assisting with braille and large print production of materials. Monique is bilingual in Spanish and English. We are so excited that Monique has joined our staff. She is dedicated to making a positive difference in lives of the children she works with.

Yesenia Castro-Arreola  has a BA in Liberal Studies. She is very strong in math skills. She knows both literary and Nemeth braille codes and is currently working as our main braillist. Yesenia is bilingual in both Spanish and English. She has brought us so much in her skills as a braillist. We are happy she has joined our team!                                 

Victoria Olea has joined our team as an Intervener. Victoria is fluent in American Sign Language and Spanish. She is working with a student at CSB with the Morgan Hill Unified School District. Victoria is an expert in haptic sign and has her Intervener certification through the University of Utah. We are happy she is a part of our SBESInc. team.

Katie Mirassou has joined our team as an Intervener. Katie is fluent in American Sign Language and will be working with a student in Scotts Valley Unified School District. She is working on her Intervener certification through the University of Utah. We are excited Katie is a part of our SBESInc. team!

Olivia Maldonado has joined out team as an Intervener. Olivia not only has experience in American Sign Language, but she also has experience working with students with multiple disabilities and behavior challenges. Olivia is working with a student through the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Olivia is working on her Intervener certification through the University of Utah. She is a wonderful asset to our SBESInc. team.
